GenAI’s Move to the Edge

  • Yutao Feng, General Manager of Ambarella China
One of the key trends in edge computing is the move toward on-device GenAI, using a new generation of networks and vision language models (VLMs). The key to enabling this is achieving the performance and capabilities needed, not just to move the model processing out of the cloud, but also to simultaneously process the sensor inputs. An AI co-processor, alone, is not enough. There must be a complete solution that adds general compute, image signal processing, and encoding/decoding. This presentation will explore this trend, including the new capabilities it enables and the latest advances that are bringing all of this to fruition. We will focus on recent developments in areas such as vision language models and advanced IC technologies, which are coming together to enable these AI advancements at the edge—along with the applications that are poised to take advantage of them.
